Case Description
My bridge is a 4 tooth bridge, the 2 front upper teeth plus the two to the right of the front teeth. My problem is I have an abscess and a cavaity on the front tooth holding the bridge and the tooth to the right of the tooth that is missing root is disintegrating. There is a drainage at that tooth. The final tooth holding the bridge has no problem. I would very much like to keep my natural teeth on each side of this bridge. My dentist isn't sure if he will be able to put a bridge in after he removes mine since he doesn't know how large the cavaity is. I need to know if its possible to use implants to hold a bridge. Is it possible to put the implant post where the teeth now holding the bridge are and attach the new bridge to them? I am willing to add the tooth to the left of the one with an abscess (if needed) to stablize a 5 tooth bridge, is that a possbility?

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hello,Your condition is not uncommon and requires knowledge of dental implants by your dentist as you suspected. The implants can usually be placed where there are currently teeth and a bridge can be made. Sometimes the timing of the treatment is the question...when can an implant be placed and when is a bone graft needed before the implant can be placed. You cannot place in implant into an abscessed area. It has to heal first. A transitional time and dental bridge or partial must be used during this time. A five tooth bridge is a possibility but can be short lived if the stresses on it are great. Long span bridges don''''t last as long as short span bridges. We would be glad to assist you in getting your teeth stable and strong with implants or bridges, whichever is best for you.Do Call if you wish. Dr. Hayward and I are accomplished in dental implantology. Check out the web site for more details.

Thank you so much for your question. You are correct that implants can be used to attach a bridge. However, it is a little more complicated than just placing the implants and adding a bridge. We would love an opportunity to discuss this treatment option with you and would like to offer you a complimentary consultation. Please contact our Patient Coordinator, Christina at 770-321-5558 to reserve time on our schedule.
