Case Description
I am a 33 yr old who had the same wonderful, dentist for 25 yrs in Canada.
Upon moving to Atlanta, I hired a local dental to do an implant for a congenitally missing tooth. *( I had orthodontics and spacers as a teen). This implant failed for a variety of reasons including the lack of experience of the dentist, lack of antibiotics etc . So, when this failed, the same dentist gave me a bridge. It is the wrong size, color, shape and is now loose 1.5 yrs and $3000 later.
I am looking for consultation to determine if I should attempt another implant or a more esthetically pleasing bridge. Are there specialists who will attempt a second implant, after an initial failure?
I am understandably nervous & wonder if I should even go through this again.

Sorry to hear about your experience. You need to see specialists at this point who deal with this everyday. Search for a good prosthodontist, he will get you in touch with a good surgeon. This team will be able to tell you if it is feasible to attempt another implant or get an esthetically pleasing bridge. The bridge is a much easier process and you will get the result you want in a few weeks. The implant could take up to one year to get a tooth in the missing space. You most likely need a bone graft after the initial failure, this needs to heal 4-6 months. Then you have to go back for implant surgery. This takes 4-6 months as well. The adjacent teeth have already been prepared for crowns, the bridge will be more esthetic than the implant. Tough choice. I hope I helped.
